AI Model Baseline Comparison

In today's fast-paced media landscape, visual content plays a powerful role in shaping our understanding of events. However, visual cues can also subtly perpetuate biases that influence our perceptions.

The "News Bias and Artificial Intelligence" (NBxAI) research project, funded by the Research Excellence Programme of 2023 by Xjenza Malta, is employing Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence to help journalists and the public analyse potential biases in the images used in news reporting. By combining advanced image analysis, Natural Language Processing, and Explainable AI techniques, NBxAI aims to bring transparency and accountability to visual storytelling.

Your participation in this data collection exercise is crucial. By rating the similarity between images and headlines, you provide invaluable insights to help us train and evaluate our AI models. This project will also develop guidelines for more objective and unbiased news reporting. Mr Gabriel Hili is a research support officer and Masters student at the University of Malta supervised by Dr Dylan Seychell , who is working on this research.
